But sometimes, you need to feel the wind in your hair.

The salty brine, stinging your face.

Sadly, though, the Hudson River is the closest thing we’ve got.

So we did the next best thing.

We made ourselves a fake beach, in collaboration with our NBC News Artworks team and our seaworthy directorial and production staff.

It’s the perfect backdrop for summer stories, and adds visual interest and flavor to our NBC News Daily segments.

You can almost hear the seagulls.
