a real green room.

The simplest ideas are sometimes the most complex to execute.

I wanted to transform one of our signature franchises, Simply Explained, by creating a virtual reality space that would build on its unique brand position and reinforce the concept for our audience.

So NBC News Artworks, our Studio Production team, our Director and I got to work – conceiving and designing a virtual “room” that showcased the segment and integrated seamlessly with our studio.

And all of it is shot in our 360-degree green screen studio.

Our designers built a 3D model of our actual studio, with walls that “fall away” to reveal the virtual studio behind it (watch the end!).

Put simply, it works marvelously.
